I'd check for macular degeneration as well. mine started by night on the highway. no migrane but an uneasy feeling in the thorax.

I drink literally allllll day. Never met anyone who drinks water as much as I do. Not that interested in eating, I don't get hungry really ... but I love water/diet coke. I am not diabetic either. Always been really into drinking. (Am teetotal tho)

Had a test for that, it did worry me. Optician just said it was from dyspraxia and my eyes look healthy

Sorry for the hi jack! Will go 'way now xxx

The first time it happened I was driving down the motorway and it was miles between junctions. I realised I was gradually losing vision in my left eye, after spending some time thinking it was a mark on the windscreen! I was too scared to stop on the hard shoulder as you hear of such terrible accidents so I just trundled on admiring the psychedelic patterns until I could get off. Right eye completely unaffected. I’ve only ever had the proper go to bed headache twice and now I come to think of it it must be 3-4 years since I had the funny eye thing. Convinced it started with hormones though during pregnancy.

I've literally only had a migraine headache twice too but was SO bad I couldn't even shut my eyes, thought I would die. I haven't had attacks for a while either, thank goodness. Pregnancy can be a B*8ch! Glad it's been a while since you had an attack K xxx

Find this so interesting - I've had terrible sinus headaches for most of my life, but years ago, in my mid-twenties, while driving down the highway, I had that same visual effect, accompanied by a headache so intense it made me nauseous, and had to pull over until it finally eased up. A friend who was afflicted suggested it was a migraine - didn't happen again for a few months, oddly at about the same place (a sort of tricky curve, but it never bothered me). Visit to the doctor resulted in a number of tests, nothing wrong, and he also said it sounded like a migraine - grateful it never happened again, and made me sympathetic toward those who suffer with that pain...

Depends where you are. My optician diagnosed my mother's wet AMD. As well as my high cholesterol and the other half's high blood pressure.

Retinal migraine can only be "seen" if the optician catches it in progress.

Kidney trouble since my teens, so I drink water all day. My right kidney sends out a sharp warning signal when I forget (due to time pressure), and I run to the nearest tap.:playful:
I have something similar, it started with chronic sinus trouble ever since I came back to the Netherlands as a teen (much too cold for me) and now it is part of my Hemicrania Continua.
Hemicrania Continua is a neurological disorder related to cluster headache. It occurs only on one side of the head and some of the symptoms are a migraine-like headache and a blocked sinus. There are more symptoms, it is best to read up on it to see if you could have it.
Some people only get one attack in their lifetime, some get occasional attacks, and with some it is continuous. Of course mine had to develop into the last category, but I have medication that helps a lot.
My meds also stop the furniture from moving around by itself,;) one of the funny hallucinatory symptoms that can come with HC.

I agree, some opticians can see all that, and more. My mother's macular degeneration was also first diagnosed by her optician.
It turned out hers was largely due to her reluctance to eat sufficient fruit and veg. Vitamin supplements stopped the process, but there was already damage.

Interesting convo! I suffered from migraines and black outs for years. I was conscience - but my vision would go black... sometimes as long as several minutes! Very unnerving and not usually accompanied by a migraine! Long story - very short - I was diagnosed with severe allergies.... to EVERYTHING! Had a long period of detox (special rotation diet - avoidance of every allergen I could avoid) - many years of serum therapy. I'm happy to report that I've not had it happen in many many years - since I started the process. I can't say I ever saw auras. Good luck on your wellness journeys!

I started getting migraines last year. I looked it up on the internet and it said one of the triggers is alcohol, especially wine. Now I love my red wine, I don't go overboard but I dearly love a glass or two with dinner.

I remembered when I was in my 20s I kept getting a strange headache when I would make Sanka at the office (a brand of decaf coffee). I stoped using it and I was fine. At that point in time coffee was decaffeinated by a process of washing in an alkaline solution leaving some of the alkali behind. Thank goodness now they use a water process so I can now have decaf.

Anyway, I told everyone in the office not to make Sanka and why, one of my coworkers thought I was full of it and made some without telling me. When the headache came I was furious with her :mad::mad::mad::mad:

The point is I wondered if it was the wine that was triggering the migraines or something in the wine. I decided to test it and started buying only wine made from organic grapes. Since then I have not had one single migraine :)

:punch: Anyone who deliberately makes someone else sick should be made to stand against a firing wall and.... not be shot (a waste of bullets).
Ah, great news for wine lovers who suffer from migraines. That is to say, if it works the same for everyone.
I know sulphite in wine can also be a problem, not just for migraine.

Red wine is a no go for me. It makes me feel very odd. My joints ache and I get a tight chest so fairly sure I have a sensitivity to something in it.
I rarely drink anyway but if I do have white wine, gin or whiskey I don’t have any side effects other than a microscopic drop relieving me of my ability to walk in a straight line :hilarious:
