Please help with this.Is this a kind of pop art? Maybe from the 70’s or 80’s? Is this a mixed medium? And is it a original? Does look original to me. Also does anyone maybe recognise the signature? It is framed and has glass and is 29x35cm. Thank you kindly and keep well.

It's a portrait and I would think 1950s/1960s from hair, clothes and nails. I wouldn't call it Pop Art but very of its period. My usual request... Would you be kind enough to post an in focus, close-up photograph of the framer's label?

Hi Debora, thank you for the comment and info. So at least it is original (I wasn’t so sure) and a little older than I thought. Please see photograph attached. I think it maybe says ‘Framart’? 14 Roeland Street,Cape Town..

I can't tell if it's original. (A portrait can be a multiple.) I won't think so but can't tell from your photographs. So the Cape Town association tells us that Rufus (the artist's name to my eye) is more likely to be South African or British. But I don't see close up photograph. Helpful in supporting date.

Ok well that’s a pity then.
I wasn’t sure about it being original. But then I noted what looks like a splash of white paint on her head. Anyway I will see
if I can find anything on Rufus..Thanks

I can FRAMART at that address in 1955 but gone by 1967. That's about right for your image I'd think.

It appears to be a sixties piece, FRAMART confirms this.
Looks to me like it's not a print at all, but all original.
Maybe done with craypas? I don't think it's pastel.
Not the highest quality of art, but very pleasing to the eye.

Could also have been done with not very wet acrylic paint and a stumpy brush...

Looks like the style of a comic book illustration to me

Many thanks for the comment. I had to google craypas. I obviously hope it is original.. It does have a ‘good’ look..

She reminds me of Bridget Bardot.

I don't know, I think I've seen a picture of her with a hairdo like that. She's in trouble with the law and in the news every once in awhile. Then people run pictures of her from the '60s. It's feasible she could have worn pedal pusher pants and a blouse. Probably not every moment of her life was spent in a bombshell outfit LOL.
Anyway.... Something about the face reminded me of Brigette Bardot. The focus of the drawing is not particularly on the figure.

I’m pretty sure it is a print. You can tell that colors have been layered over one another. You can tell especially with the red how they laid it out to go around the hand. Not sure if it is a silkscreen or lithograph. The white looks hand embellished.
