Featured Pendant - hallmark?

    Just bought this small pendant at a flea market.
    I was wondering if anyone would be able to read this hallmark.

    It looks to me like a "fancy" L letter
    and maybe roman numerals III
    K at the end?
    Hmm...

    That's way better. The fancy L is rather like a Liz Claiborne mark.

    It is a maker's mark, rather than a hallmark.

    Hallmarks are issued by assay offices, which are government-controlled. You see them mostly on European and North African jewellery and other precious metal items.
    The name hallmark is derived from the goldsmith's guild halls where marking was controlled in historic times. A maker was never allowed to punch a hallmark.

    I think it's "10k" and the top and bottom of the zero is cut off
