These came in to a local thrift store & my friend/the manager wants $500 for the pair?
Are they huge sconces? For sides of a fireplace?
What are they and how old are they?
    Is the price good ?
Forgive photos - used my phone then emailed to me to reduce size so I could ask while still here
    Thank you

    What are they made of?

Edit: Doh! It's in the title. If they are hand carved wood it doesn't look bad for the price even if they are not very old.

They look like wood, and could have been fireplace caryatids, as journey thought.

Thanks - do you think that's 3 pieces? If so then the ones at thrift store are missing the mantle or top part that connects the 2 - which will probably be a harder sale I think - I passed on them - but got a 9 piece Woodard spun fiberglass patio set instead - for $100 less - that I know I can sell here in Miami.
Thanks - you all helped me from buying with my heart that I may have had for awhile!

verybrad I was typing before you posted! Maybe I will go get them and have a auction co. sell them with a reserve?

I would be tempted but more comfortable at $300.00. You never know the whims of an auction.

He won't do that unless they don't sell for a couple of days - I offered him the same $400 he offered me a Woodard spun fiberglass patio set for & he said not yet.

Just out of curiosity, why are they wearing belts and what are the straps coming down over their shoulders?

Think of her costume as the late Victorian equivalent of this.

I thought straps were her hair?

Along with her hair are straps going to her bustier. (Journey's first pic)
