Hi there! Perfume bottles are a bit of a minefield for me as there are so many repros around. This bottle was part of an auction win recently (it came with another pink frosted glass Art Deco style one that I'm pretty sure is a Silvestri 80s bottle). Is this a modern one as well? Including stopper it measures 5"H x 3"W. Any idea of origin? Thanks as always

The swirling star pattern does remind me glassware from the 80s made in eastern Europe. I have a reference book on perfumes by Jackie North. She has a section on blue glass perfumes that are Czech from the 1930s and this one doesn't look like any of them. But I'm no expert, wait for more comments.

It's nice quality. On the cut and colour, I'd favour later, 70s or 80s.

It is a pretty little bottle but I think it is a later bottle. The lack of wear on the bottom is a clue & also the construction of the dauber.

I am assuming you see no acid etched mark on the bottom. Try taking it to a sunny window or under a bright light & you might have to wiggle it around a little. You can also try breathing on the bottom. Sometimes your warm breath makes the mark stand out.

As far as the construction of the stopper I will need a close-up to be sure. During our perfume bottle collectors group (IPBA) convention this past May we had a seminar on Czech bottles. We learned that when the old daubers were constructed the glassmakers applied the thin clear glass rod by applying a very tiny dab of the hot glass & then pushed the glass piece into the dab. Obviously, this takes time which when you are trying to mass-produce something is not a good thing. So they now insert the glass rod into the stopper.

I will try to remember to post a photo of one of my old stoppers & a newer model tomorrow so you can see what I mean.

Thanks for the advice, I don't see a mark on the base but will look again in better light tomorrow! Here is the stopper.

    That's a modern stopper, certainly.
