Small biscuits are the most likely thing. Might be 1930s. Frans Hals paintings, I think.

My guess is 1930s. We usually use small tins of that shape for candy, like 'Haagsche hopjes' or 'Zeeuwse boterbabbelaars'.

Please don't think you have to hunt for two others to make up a set. These came in different indiviual sizes, for the sweet tooth, the bigger sweet tooth, and the huge sweet tooth.:playful:
Someone (with an enormous sweet tooth:greedy:) made them into a set because it looks nice, which it does.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The tins do look nice as a set in the link that INH found. I have a small collection of tins... maybe about 20? Or maybe it would be best called an accumulation instead of a collection. No real theme to it!

I have an 'accumulation' of tins as well. Occasionally I see similar ones for sale and am amazed at how much they cost.

I don't like to pay much for them. That means passing up a lot of nice ones. For me, they do not need to be in very good condition and that helps in finding some. I actually like them better when they are a little worn. I have just a certain amount of display space for them, so don't buy very many.

I got most of them from my mother and grandmother, and bought some years ago with content: biscuits, etc. I only bought one, it is handpainted in the style of Hindeloopen in the north of the Netherlands.
