Boring ? It’s a still life of a fruit tree ( lemon?) what else would you want or expect to see ? Ive tried to find the artist by no luck I’m afraid , hopefully a member who is up on signatures may be able to help.

 

Unfortunately, not enough to go on here. I agree with your dating but am finding no artist that matches.

Back to the artist...... there was a German-born portraitist and restorer called J Gustav Helmich who died in Baltimore in 1936. Can't find a signature for him but the rather careful historicist look might fit with the work of a restorer.
