1950s. Bino was not the maker but the assembler - somewhere "in a shed". if I remember right the innards were by Kienzle. I'd say "Panzer tested"... not even the airport rampers killed them.

I see these fairly frequently in my local thrifts for only a few dollars. I don't bother picking them up since there are 100s, if not 1000s listed on eBay at any time.

 

they were often advertising and publicity gifts from big companies. for free. but still - when not soaked in a pond -for years like this one here - of very good quality for give-aways. I still have one somewhere from Ma which she got from her first employer when back in Europe and it still works after 70 years. I wonder how long the publicity stuff of today will survive.

 

and the alarm......will wake the dead !!!!!!
