Japanese Ceramic or Porcelain Trinket Box Identification

    Going crazy trying to identify this. Can't find anything on it, or it's markings. This has been in storage for 60 years, so it's at least that old. If anyone could shed light on this, I would be so thankful.

    I think it might be a cigarette box with ashtray,missing a few ashtrays.

    I should have mentioned that this item is pretty small. Only about 3 1/4" by 3 1/4". The little plate is definitely not big enough to be an ash tray. More like a trinket or jewelry box.

    I would think individual ashtrays, except they wouldn't stack very well with the fruit sticking up. (They usually stack, don't they?)

    Maybe dresser box and pin tray? Could be in a coincidence one fits inside the other?
