Hello to all,Hope you all are keeping well...!!!!
Have been able "discretely" to take those 3 photos yesterday....This lamp (Part of 3 asian lamps..(Only this one can be presentely quick purchased......) china8.jpg china7.jpg china6.jpg Electrified and working modern way,has been attracting me...Could not see if there was any marks..??...around 38cm on stand...I think Chinese..?? Maybe Japanese or Corean...?? I don't think is too old but find it very interesting and decorative.....owner wants a lot for it ..If it is as I think a modern one...I am ready to offer 250 euros for it before anybody else...Do you think I am right....Think that many others know that this item will go for sale....Would like to know if my offer is correct..?? And if you could give me more informations..?? Wont think I will be able to get more photos before it will be sold this week end....Thanks as usual for your expertises and professional advices..Jck

Hmm, that's an odd one. I have a sneaking suspicion it's actually a European interpretation of Oriental ware, perhaps early 20th century in date. There are many features which just don't seem right for Japanese/Chinese starting with the characters which look to me like they are just made up, they don't appear to be real kanji.

I'd want to see what's under that wood. The gilding reminds me of Derby, tbh.

I agree that the style looks very European chinoiserie. There may be clues to the maker in that cartouche with the tubes (scrolls? fasces?), axe, scimitar, banner, and coral.

Yes, they are neither Chinese nor Kanji characters.

Chinoiserie. Those "characters" are anything but, just scribbles trying to imitate Chinese writing.

Very nice! Agree on European, mostly French:)
A good sign for a valuable item is that the electric mounting have been done without piercing the vase (that drastically lower value, if a piece wasn’t originally a lamp!).
