    This is a strange looking item.I assumed it's a vase,has a bottom and a ball top.Item can sit on either end.Appears to be blown with lots of bubbles.Really SAM_6325.JPG SAM_6326.JPG SAM_6328.JPG SAM_6330.JPG a beautiful piece.Any idea what this item is.Measure 12".

Could you get close ups of the bubbles and the twist against a plain background please? And a top down view, and a close up of the base.

First pic it is upside down. 3rd pic is correct orientation. It is a decanter. The flat part at the neck is the top and would have had a stopper. Most likely from the Empoli region of Italy

If you're thinking genie bottle style, then not Empoli. And I doubt that's where it's from, anyhow. It has a fire polished base and utilises what's sometimes called soda glass here - random differently sized bubbles, as in Biot glass. Neither of those things are characteristic of glass made in Empoli. Shape is all wrong, too.

    I do agree it's missing a stopper.

Ol, I'm confused. No openings at all? The big end doesn't look open or is it? Hard for me to tell. If it is that is a weird looking vase

An odd item for sure. No openings then it can't be a vase. 12" tall. Not sure what the diameter is. Almost looks like something you could darn socks on. Fancy one at that :confused:

It would have had a long thin pointed top stopper.
