Large African? Statue

Hi All,

Looking for some help ID'ing this statue.

The form looks like it could be Dogon or a copy of but the facial features seem quite unusual?

To me, it looks like a statue of a person wearing a mask. I think that's why the facial features look so weird.
There are others here who know a lot about African carvings. They will show up eventually I hope.

 

I would look at Senufo carvings, rather than Dogon. But there are some odd features that I don't recognize. The treatment of the face is unusual. And I would expect the figure to have an integral base. How is it standing?

 

I hadn't thought of that but it does look like it could be a person wearing a mask now you mention it.

Your right, it does look more like some of the Senufo statue's I can see, with the bowed arms and narrow elongated body.

Its freestanding but difficult to balance!
