Carved wood deity(?) statue with a wax seal/stamp & thai characters

Hi all
I found this statue at a local thrift store. It measures 10" tall and I almost let it go - until I saw an unusual wax seal on the base.
It looks like a old seal you'd use to seal a letter if you lived in king arthur's time or find on a good bottle of whiskey!
When I looked closer at it I could see thai(?) characters?
Is this from a museum or collection? Or is this how they label a tourist piece like we'd stick a price tag on something?
Any help would be appreciated - I don't know if I should toss it in a drawer or put it in a display case!

I have only seen export approval seals on Chinese porcelain but I would assume a lot of countries did it. Interesting.

 

Do you think it means it is more than just a weekend carver's project?

 

I bet it is an export seal from Nepal, with Nepalese script.
The figure looks like a tribal votive figure from West Nepal to me. Not very old, which is probably why it was allowed to leave the country.
