candle.jpg I have a pair of these. They belonged to my grandmother and had a footed compote bowl which had broken many years ago. I am trying to find the matching bowl again online but just need to know the maker. Please and thank you all.....

If you can post a photo without the candle and against a white background an image search (you or we can do) may find it.

Are there any marks anywhere on the piece? Would you please post a photo of the bottom? I am assuming these are glass but wanted to make sure. Also if you could choose the full-size image that would save some clicking back & forth.:happy:

I was wondering about that. It looks like wax, but glass is much more likely.;)

Photo is great. Is it glass or ceramic?

I for one, have no clue, but my guess would be probably glass.....Would be helpful if @Thom would pop back in and enlighten us.....he did say a "footed compote bowl" that went with them got broken.....

If those are as glass as they look, Bohemian early 20th.

Agree, Bohemia/Czech, tango. Some known makers are Loetz, Kralik and Welz, and surely some others.

Thank you all for your responses and I apologize for the delay. These candle holders are glass and have been hand painted and are at least 70 years old

I have attached a picture of the bottom. The bottom is not solid and flat but rather concave/ hollow....

WHILE doing that edit & ENLARGEMENT, I noticed what I thought looked like letters, which I have circled here.....I think I have some of the letters and the number '12' (a partial possible date??).....I tried to enhance what I could of the letters I could make out.....there are better eyes out there than mine & more knowledgeable peeps on signatures (IF that's a possibility) than I am..... I think I see a 'B' 'I or L, then don't know then H or N? and 'G'..... that's all I potentially have!! It was pretty faint until it started to come in to focus......as showing UN-enhanced above! Hoping it helps!
