Been quite a while since I've posted a spoon thread, so thought I'd show an assortment:

My Christmas present to myself last year, new addition to my Lily of the Valley collection, an uncommon 10-1/4" Whiting Mfg. berry spoon, circa 1870 - no maker's mark (not unusual), but has the Whiting #14 bowl, found on known patterns:

Found this late 19th-early 20th century Gorham demitasse spoon in one of my old jewelry boxes with its receipt from 2015, apparently ejected from my memory for lack of space, since I have no recollection of seeing it before, much less buying it. Likely tucked it away to research later, and still had no luck, so contacted an acquaintance who wrote the book on Gorham spoons - he'd recently acquired the same spoon, says mine is the only other one he's seen, it's not found in the Gorham archives, but the logo belonged to the 'Camp Fire Club', founded in 1897:

Still sorting through Mom's stuff - this is a harlequin set of eight different Gorham pattern coffee spoons, parcel-gilt with fancy engraved bowls, acquired from a dealer friend in the '80s, he had a set of eight, but was selling them separately. Mom picked out four, then sent me back the next day for the other four because she wanted them all, keeping the set together - no question on keeping them:

Jam spoons - the ivory handled by George Unite, Birmingham 1877, the circa 1900 New Zealand spoon with a pounamu (greenstone) handle:

A 1799 Danish fish server (fiskespade) with slight damage, but an interesting allegorical engraving, the broken column/pillar usually associated with a 'life cut short':

Have wanted a Scandinavian horse-handled wooden mangle board for years, never finding one I loved and could afford as well - so couldn't resist this cake server (kakespade) by Norwegian maker Th. Olsens, the design pretty clearly based on mangle boards. Have never seen anything quite like it, and am so charmed by what may be the cutest silver horse ever - the mangle boards in the composites are all 18th or 19th century:

Most of my spoon displays (all packed away at the moment) have glass doors to help prevent tarnish, but couldn't resist this 24" pyrography rack and tried it out with some Danish and Norwegian spoons before packing everything up:

Harlequin set of enamel bowl 'coffee bean' spoons in original Harrods case, Turner & Simpson, Birmingham 1949 - acquired for a song because the seller couldn't see the marks for the tarnish:

Gotta respect a spoon that firmly states its use, I've seen the old Breyer's promotional spoons before, but can't recall ever seeing this piece, made by the fairly obscure early 20th century New York manufacturer E.M. Weinberg & Co., their 'Three' pattern - some plating wear, but couldn't pass it up:

When I wrapped and packed up the silver from my house, left my flatware service and a bunch of serving pieces in their chest, when I looked inside recently, there was quite a bit of tarnish, so I polished it all, including the three berry spoons that were my first serving pieces, picked up at the flea market frequented when I was a teenager. Frank Smith engraved, unnamed Knowles, Blackinton 'Verona':

    Silver, all bright and shiny:

A grouping of some of my late 19th-early 20th century plique-à-jour spoons - Norwegian, American, and two likely German:

Some American 'love' spoons with heart-shaped bowls and twist stems, the three at top center plique-à-jour (also in pic above):

Some Navajo salt spoons, the two mid 20th century shaker/sifter spoons at the bottom by cousins George Kee and Kenneth Begay for White Hogan shop:

Stunning collection, Cheryl, all of them so special. Love the Norwegian mangleboard-horse cake server, I can see why you wanted an original mangleboard.:)

@DragonflyWink............your collection is the most amazing spoon collection I've ever seen.

Plus, your spoons are certainly worthy of display.

Until seeing your display(s), spoons never really interested me. Never could see what the "fuss" was all about in collecting spoons!

And to think it started in your teen years..............

Thank you once again for showing us your unique collection.

I would be hard-pressed to pick a favorite out of this group but those plique-a-jour spoons would be definitely in the top 5.:happy:

I am also enamored with your spoon rack & I have never seen a silver chest like the one shown.

Thanks, guys! Glad y'all enjoyed seeing them...

I love him too, makes me smile - and would be thrilled to find a mangle board comparable to those, all museum pieces.

Spoon collectors are a pretty obsessive bunch overall - at least they don't take up a huge amount of space...

Sue, your mother had good taste - bought the set in my mid-twenties, and still love it (got a great price because it's monogrammed, conveniently, with a 'W' for my last name). Mom's pattern was Towle's Candlelight, I wasn't that crazy about it, but it grew on me over the years, clean lines with the lovely floral detailing, now that it's mine, realize it coordinates well with the Spring Glory.

Have you ever seen that 'Ice Cream' spoon?

Peggy, plique-à-jour often tempts me, have quite a few more than those in the pic - all the spoons in the group pics have been gathered over time.

There was no way I could pass up that spoon rack, even as dark and dirty as she was before I cleaned her up. The silver chest was a whole two dollars, beat-up (still is, on my lengthy to-do list), with a broken door, but the interior was clean and intact - 1950 ad below mentions the walnut version.

Fantastic pieces!I’ll have to share some of my favs as well. I don’t have specific sub collections within my collection yet but have a few neat ones. I got a great NA (presumably Navajo) salt spoon a few months back. I’ll snap a pic next time I think of it. I love the fire club logo and history.

@DragonflyWink Mom did not have any of the ice cream sporks in her set (the set now belongs to one of my sisters) so I have not seen one in person. I do have some of them in some of my silverplate sets. They sure are cool to have!
