Got this Saturday,as always didn't cost much.

The person I got it from claimed it was a stencil of St.Michael's College in Tenbury Wells which isn't that far from here.

( Is this called a tazza?
I always thought so but google doesn't seem to agree with me, what is the proper name? x)

Does anyone know who made it,please?

I cannot read the green mark at all, even with a loupe

It measures 9 inches across (24 cms) and 3 inches down (8 cms)

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

So from that I gather that "compote" refers more to a function and "tazza" refers more to a look or aesthetic description?

The definition I grew up with was a compote was something you ate from, while comport was something you were served from. Compote was also used as a term for a dessert with sweet rice and fruit.

I always associate that blue with 1870s-80s but Im probably wrong. Whats up with that spot around the base? It looks like it wasnt finished or repaired?

Tazza, here, or comport. Compote, you eat.

I think it's older. The orange mark is a decorator's piece work one. The green is annoyingly familiar.

Sorry, missed the bit about the mark, pretty sure that's the late 19th Century Copeland mark, comes in green and blue most commonly.

You're right, it does look to be peeling around the base.
