Lucite? What is it?

    This was in a box of items I got at a local auction but trying to figure out what it might be. It's got little handles on the side with four raised ball shaped feet on the base. Has grooves horizontal and around. Thank you for any info!

    The little ball feet, make me think a trivet or teapot stand

    Measures 7 7/8 inches wide and 1 inch thick
