So, my wife was out of town so I did an online auction. Not sure what I purchased here, just thought it was large and interesting.

Really, not my thing, but I sometime will jump off a cliff on the off chance I can actually fly....so..

Love to know more about this. Maker, estimated age, use, comparables (for resale of course) material, nature of the scene, is it hand painted? and whatever else you might think is important. No noted chips or losses that I can tell. Rim appears to be brass, patina makes it a challenge in the images to see.

Measures right about 12 3/4" across, about 9 1/2" deep, about 5 1/2" total height and the internal depth (not counting the raised portion of the lid is about 3 1/2" to the bottom lip/rim.

I apologize, I took the photo's on my wifes desk as my photo booth stuff is packed away in the barn - not really working right now, apparently just spending money :)

Ooh, love it. The scene on the lid is known as 'the Toilet of Venus'. With Neptune/Poseidon on one side, the other side could be Amphitrite, but from what I can see, more likely Birth of Venus/Aphrodite.

The crowned N is often associated with the modern maker using the term "Capodimonte"
