    Hi folks

I bought this today from my mate who does house clearances, paid quite cheap (£10)
because there is a repair to the spout

hopefully theres a bit of profit in it but unsure

    presuming 19th c

nice to have the lid, but regretting buying because of the damage

    any thoughts appreciated

Try "Rose Medallion." You'll find something like this.

That's bringing up quite a lot, thanks deb

Will just have to see if a profit can be made on it

You have pretty much all you need already, but if you want to be fancy this is a Rose Mandarin pattern (as the main decorative panel is of figures). It's late 19th as you say. Also the lids and handles are usually missing, so it will help offset the spout damage a little. Should be a profit in it, although it's not going to set your world on fire of course.

I would pay £10 for this all day long. I love a bit of famille rose and its a lovely item.

If you post it for sale somewhere, I would make sure to have good pics of the lid. Might well sell to someone who needs the lid for an undamaged one.

Lol, I always keep confusing these 3 Famille Rose catagories. Like a toungue twister.

The very best and usually the oldest dating to 1830 is famile mandarin and they are usually of very good quality, Rose canton follows and can be quite good quality.

The most common is the rose medallion, and many are not as of such good quality.

Here is a briliant you tube video from highly respect Peter Combs who is an expert on Asian Art from MA USA.
