    Hmm,sounds like Posting's almost an Art ? Analyze,research,how big's an audience & responses,etc.
Some of the seemingly most innocuous posts seem to get a huge amount of responses-maybe being very vague (or general) in your Title helps whet the audience's whistle ?
Keep your caption very general so your readers are intrigued as in:'Interesting Old Cameo Help ?!'

Vague titles tend to get ignored, they also make searches for similar articles impossible.

'Interesting Old Cameo Help ?, there is already a busy thread for cameo help and no need to have dozens of threads to get lost after a week or longer.

Hollyblue- Certain threads seem to have more researched/documentable subjects :ie Silver & Gold Marks,Jewelry Marks & Stone or Gem Recognition/Tribal Arts/Porcelain & Pottery Stamps,Dolls,Coins. Fine Art seems to be a much more difficult and amorphous subject to document (understandable-since artists are so damned flaky at reliably signing their work in a cohesive way-artists rarely stick w/ the same 'Logo'/Signature their whole career). Although a great painting could buy you 5-10 houses, its a 1 in a million find-sadly most found/picked art is junk (no offense hard-picking friends).
Holly-Certain things take literally years to authenticate-Art,Antiquities,etc. I think if I continue to attempt to make a buck in the antique biz-it's got to be in Jewelry or some other reliably identifiable Item (albeit w/ some expertise). Expert Attribution's too tough on so many great pieces-not everyone can tap one of the British Museum's Dept Curators !

You want to get into jewelry,do you know any basics? In the USA there is no requirement that gold/silver/platinum be marked for metal purity. There is no official registry of jewelry maker's marks and names.

    "Is this antique?"
    "Latest find"
    "ID help"
    "Help please"
    "Wat is it?"

I could go on for hours.:arghh:

    Holly & Any-Thanks for the help re 'Vague Titles',like posting a spam/junk mail.I'm a complete 'rube' re: jewelry (so good luck,right !).
Some of the jewelry folks here could be curators at the V&A-quite extraordinary knowledge base.
What's even more extreme-'Grading Coins',you've got to be physic or a member of the Illuminati to master that-probably why the charge $40 up per coin for an 'official' evaluation. For example an MS-65 grade might be $200/an MS-68 could be 30K.
