Can anyone tell me anything about this urn. It’s very heavy I believe cast iron.
    Thanks

Looks Victorian to me. I bet it weighs a ton. Id think somewhere on it is a manufacture's name, could be under layers of paint.

Where abouts in the world is it? If in the UK, I'd be hunting for a Coalbrookdale mark.

I have a pair of them. I got them at an online vintage marketplace in the US. I believe they were located in Florida.
Where would I find a makers mark if there was one?
    Thanks

Could be anywhere, but usually on the bottom. I bet its under 40 layers of paint. A pair ? How lucky ! I love a pair of anything !

If you have a magnet you can confirm that they are cast iron - iron will attract a magnet.

China (as well as some other Asian countries) have been exporting similar cast iron urns, so there is the possibility that your pair are relatively modern reproductions in the antique style.

Yes I tried that when I got them. The magnet stuck to both urns. They have a lot of weight to them so hopefully they aren’t reproductions.
