    kyratango Bug jewellery addiction!

    Hi all!:)

I found this, according to the listing: "Antique Unusual French Double end Chatelaine Bottle BREVET S.G.D.G Holy Water ? An interesting item with prayer hands and a figure on the other side. Approximate 60mm and weight 17 grams. Not 100% sure what this is intended for."

The image of the angel on one side gives the clue for its use!:joyful:

After some struggling to open the shorter end, and some alcohol inside bath, I was able to try it (with simple water:D).

    It effectively spray :)
You just have to adjust your blow and not fill it full:facepalm:.

Though not convenient to perfume yourself behind your ears:hilarious::hilarious:

Searching didn't gave any result for similar...
Perhaps it wasn't a commercial success, people seems to not like being sprayed like a bug in society?:hilarious: Resized_20220814_104453~2_206044570882815.jpeg Resized_20220814_104511~2_206044162431700.jpeg

A total mystery. Maybe to spray Holy Water on the faithful?
Perfume spray for elephants? They can reach their ears easily.
    That would be an issue.:pompous:

Well THAT's not something I've ever seen before either! :)
I only see one hand, are you actually seeing two?
It looks more like a single hand holding a jar of spice (or scent).

Is this a pearl in the circle?

Is this a signature near the arrow?

A pearl in flower petals? Hard to tell, it's lovely though.
Also, I can see SOMETHING that the hand is resting on, between the thumb and forefingers, but this does not look like a second hand behind it to me.

Yes, only one hand! The angel on other side is blowing in a same shaped bottle, letting a mist out.

I added the pearl that was obviously missing:happy:
Nothing where you put the red arrow, it is only a metal blob! Same under the hand :)

eBay seller obviously didn't have a clue. Why else put patent information in heading?

It looks like the hand is holding a gold brick.

"Nothing where you put the red arrow, it is only a metal blob! Same under the hand" --well bummer! Seems what ever the hand is holding that has a flower for decoration could give us a better clue than that! Fooey! :joyful::kiss:

:hilarious::hilarious: ..This too shall pass! Actually, I've never even seen a gold brick, and never seen one depicted in red color!
I'd have thought it more the size of the ingot looking thing half hidden under the hand! :D
