This probably had a saucer at one time...but no more. It's rather small & four-lobed; ~2" high, ~2 1/2" rim diameter, ~2 3/8" foot diameter, 121 grams. The interior is gloss-glazed in not-quite-white, with extremely fine crackling. The ten characters (right to left) appear to have been scratched into the fired surface; all of them have minutely chipped edges.

It looks similar to the many red ware teapots, etc...but for the interior, and the nature of those characters. Is it older? Can the base mark be helpful? And what is the 'story' in those characters? Thanks for lookin'!

I'm usually wrong about these things, but I'd guess Korean.

Based on the lettering. All the languages in the region use some Chinese characters, but I tend to think of Chinese as having the most complex ideograms, Japanese a bit simpler in form, and Korean as being close to geometric. Don't know if there's any validity to that or not.

Kinda looks like Yi-xing ware except for the interior glaze.
