    Hello! For a little backstory, I picked this guy up at an antique mall in our area. I saw him and just had to have him, though I know absolutely nothing about him. I would like to have others like him, especially if there's a collection, but no matter what I do, I can't seem to find anything like a manufacturer or even items similar to him in style/size. He's about 13" tall and has a number on the back: 9446. The marks above the number seem to read something like a large G and then DCP. However, the G is strangely shaped, with a straight line through it? I provided pictures, but it's very faint. Even if he can't be identified, what are the search terms I might use to find other figures of this style (of dress)? The sales tag indicated it was German (I think it said German Figure? Can't remember), but I never spoke directly to the seller to get any more information about it.

    I don't even know if this is technically "antique" or how that term is defined, so I'm sorry in advance if this question doesn't belong on this site. I just thought some people here might be knowledgeable and able to steer me in the right direction. :)

    There are a lot of bisque figures out there along these lines. As a start you could search Ebay under "bisque figure" although that will bring several others that don't match this style, but you might luck out and find this exact one by scrolling through the matches. Maybe try "German bisque figure" or "white bisque figure" or "antique bisque figure" for a more narrow/limited search.

    This particular one might be German, might be Japanese.

    Maybe others will have thoughts.

    Sounds like it might be German by Christian Nonne or Unger Schneider. Just a couple names you might check.

    @Lucille.b
    Thanks for the advice! Those sort of phrases will really help narrow my search for more like this. :)

    I think you solved it! Unger Schneider fits the bill, and there are several other pieces similar to this one available. Thanks so much!

    Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

    I love the rather "privileged" or "important" look the young man has about him! Other than that, I know nothing about him!! But I did try to enhance the VERY faint marks that were difficult to see......but am totally not sure what I AM seeing. But if ID is solved, not sure they would help at all....here is one anyway......it's the markings above 9446......

    Hello and welcome to the board.

    I can barely see the mark. It appears to be a German mark and one a company that made half dolls used.

    Sometimes rubbing cinnamon into the mark and then lightly dusting it, will bring the mark out so you can see it.
