I'd say that's overpriced unless he has a period glass shade to go with it.

It appears to be made ca. 1890-1910, and looks to be of excellent quality.

I suspect strongly it could be a marriage.
the reservoir in polished copper is continental arts and crafts, the acantus (?) capitel just below and also the column and foot don't seem to be in the same style.
    therefore - JMHO hands off.

I see what you mean. It does look like the top copper piece doesn't match the bottom. Great spotting.

Thank you Fid for your reply,I decided to give it a pass.I have several other options to buy,I will post some of them( if our dear friends don't mind).I found it in a rather commercialized flea market area in Tbilisi. It does not come from owner which made me suspicious

Interesting, because when russian buyers are coming here at shop or in market we don't like them because they wan't pay and are not very pleasant, after that the sold it for many$ at it seems…
As they is a lot of russian items in Switzerland coming from swiss working in the czar era in Russia, russian buyers comes especially for silver items which are often in good condition and not very expensive compared to Paris or London.

One thing is a Russian buyer(Thanks god,I am a Georgian buyer) and another-Russian antiques.I like old things but not when they cheat me.Unfortunately, there are many cases when they sell fake things calling them antiques.especially furniture :(

When I say Russian buyers is just a localization, not something negative, some antiques can come from countries like Germany and were "stolen" through the time by wars in Russia.
The problem of fakes is everywhere the same now from more than 10 years and coming in part with internet communication, it's just seems coming later where you're living, at the began they were only expensive items faked, but now they are under 100$ items on the market, and the fact that they make specialized antiques for your market is very interesting for other countries to know. :bookworm:
