These are 2 old crystal 18" necklaces I purchased at the thrift store. They both have sterling clasp and wire stringers and 1 is broken. Are these 2 necklaces worth repairing and how old might they be? Thanks in advance for any information.

The wire stringers appear to be someones home repair and it looks like a lot of bubbles in the beads.

The round ones are a little better glass quality than the oblong.

I'd put age in the early 1900s.
Not unusual to find them strung on sterling chain.

However, the wired one may have been re-strung.

I think 1930’s, not great money value nowadays...
I love these and you could restring the broken one for cheap:)

Agree with clutteredcloset for the chain being original way of stringing, and that there was a restringing done at home ;)

The beads are Quality, not simple glass, the spacers are well cut not molded as on basic exemples.
If this is the case, only means it is not rock crystal... Lead crystal can have bubbles...

Agree on the repair, but I can rather see well cut shiny crystal than lot of bubbles from the pics;)

I'm with kyra, nice quality crystal necklaces. I would say 1920s-30s, I have seen those cut crystal spacers on 20s necklaces as well.
They will be gorgeous after some tlc.

Thanks everyone for all the info and replies. If I restring them would coated wire be the best thing to use?

Thanks kyratango for the info and link! That's a nice chain at a good price.

They might be more early 50s than late 30s, but I agree that a fine chain is the best way to go. I just restrung one found resting in pieces that came on clear nylon, or what used to be clear nylon before it turned brown and died of old age. I hand knotted them instead of using chain.

    I respectfully disagree.
    More 1910 -1930.

They've always "felt" later to me, but I could be wrong. Those round spacers do fit better with a 30s vintage.
