These were found in a bag with replacement lapel pin backs.

They look like a lapel button type thing but they are plain with no type of logo or anything.:confused::confused:

They are brass or at least they do not attract to a magnet & some had a pretty gross case of verdigris.

The backs screw on & they are of course not marked. :grumpy::grumpy::facepalm::facepalm:

    They are 1/4" across.

Does anybody want to venture a guess?

They look like some sort of emergency replacement buttons, for when one goes walkabout. Or maybe something to hold a ribbon in a guy's suit jacket. They had button holes in the old days made to hold a lapel button from one association or another. That's where the WWII Ruptured Ducks went, etc.

@evelyb30 - I immediately thought of that & kept looking for some type of insignia on them.

The ribbons I have seen such as the ones for Civil War veterans had a pin at the top usually.

If I were guessing I'd say these were made plain and sold in bulk. The small group buying them would add a printed ribbon. Maybe a fundraiser? These may have been leftovers.
