I have been a graphic designer for 30+ years. When I started computers were not widely available but they were used by type setters. Fast forward about 10 years and every yahoo who had a computer called themselves graphic designer. No training, no experience, using MS Word - not a professional software package.

I remember being horrified when I got artwork to use on a project for a multimillion dollar corporation and the product logo (Pond’s) used a foot mark instead of an apostrophe. Doesn’t sound like a big deal right? Wrong! They spent unbelievable amounts of money “redesigning” the Pond’s logo and no one down the line, from the client to the designer, knew the difference between a foot mark and an apostrophe? Really??? What has happened to professionalism :inpain:

Oh, Marie. When I was selling IT systems, I knew damn well that a good graphic designer was what you needed for a decent interface and website. The developers could then sit behind it, making it function.
