Artist was easily found, so no questions there. I was wondering how to describe these "black lines". Is that just part of the soapstone or some kind of damage?

Overall a few scuffs, which I will note, but wanted some help describing those black lines. Thanks!

They look like faults in the stone.

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

any stone can have Mineral lines running thru it.....
unless u can see glue marks from a break......these are just natural occurring formations in the stone.

Haida Argillite....black as black...with a white line running thru it...
    Not a break...or crack...or repair......just is what it is.....
I also had 2 others with an orange line in it......looked weird.....but again...naturally occurring....

Yes; I'd just call them "veins." they can be associated with weakness or cracks in soapstone, but usually not, and these do appear to be of the harmless variety, and not something that would have to be mentioned in a listing, other than perhaps to say "the black lines are not cracks."

    Natural mineral fissures?

Don't utter the word "crack" ;)

Thank you SH. I actually had listed it a few hours ago, and with your suggestion just made a slight revise.

While I was in there, noticed I forgot to list the measurements, so doubly good I went in. Thanks!
