    Greetings!
The following contains pictures of an unidentified antique I picked up.
The dealer who I picked it up from said that these are “Codex-style platters.”

It seems to be a map of some sort and has 4 different double digit numbers along with the degree symbol next to them.

Can someone shed some light on these and help me identify them? And if possible, some critical information about them would be useful :)

Going broadly off the latitude and longitude suggested on the "map", the various islands, and the turtle motif, I'm going to take a wild guess and say this is from the Gran Roque islands of Venezuela.

You may be right. Seychelles most likely. I think we can agree it's from somewhere near the Equator where sea turtles are an attraction. :)

Will do it as soon as I can :)
It’s a pain to upload pictures within the post since I use an iOS device and all pictures I take are beyond 1megabyte. So I need to transfer it to my PC, reduce the quality and upload from my PC.

Thanks for both of your inputs! You’ve been of great help. The dealer I got it from mentioned that it’s at least 70 years old. If it’s actually from the Seychelles, it’s come quite a long way (all the way to Southern Asia) and into my hands.

Anyone else who’s good with pottery/ceramics/codex, please feel free to share some information on this!

The platter is indeed beautiful and intriguing! I love the colours on it and the fact that’s its a map of sorts. Probably a simplistic recreation of an important moment of that area’s history (considering the fact that it has 2 ships, a few islands and latitude-longitude of sorts.)

    You share the same Ocean.

I remember about 35 yeas ago I met some senior police officers from the Seychelles, they came over here to do a criminal law course.

They brought with them as gifts huge decorated real turtle shells.
I don't know how they got them through customs.
I just hope the animals died naturally before they were turned into art.
