Looks like it originally read ROLEX.

Been told that it isn’t a Rolex, but nothing else. I’d love it to be a Rolex

There’s a Swiss company called BERNEX, might be one of theirs.

I don't see how that first letter can become an R or a B. 17 jewels are impresive for a wrist watch though......

  14. The faded name on the dial appears to be ELREX, so the last identification in the thread is most likely correct. Known Elrex dials use the same layout, with “17 Jewels” below the brand name and “Antimagnetic / Incabloc” on the lower half of the dial.

The movement is a very close match for a Felsa calibre 465, or possibly a closely related member of the Felsa 465 family. It is a 17-jewel Swiss hand-wound movement with direct centre seconds and Incabloc shock protection, introduced around 1950.

Elrex was a New York watch trade name registered by Elrex Watch Co. Inc., while Felsa made the movement. I would therefore describe it as a 1950s Elrex wristwatch with a Felsa 465 movement. It is not a Rolex. The “115” and “5284” on the case back are likely internal case or reference numbers, but they do not provide a reliable exact date.
