Hi everyone Have just completed a month of sorting grouping my doll collection, These pics are just a part of it.particularly the old bisque dolls. doll buyers are dead in the water here in this area,Rio Grande valley) South Texas. My daughter wants me to try and sell as many as I can particularly the better ones.I have tried consignment stores, with limited success, I dont want to go the ebay route, due to my physical limitations which limits my mailing capability, all and any ideas gratefully received. thanks for any ideas, I have donated several totes full to Salvation Army also. dolls.jpg dolls3.jpg dolls5.jpg dolls7.jpg dolls7.jpg dolls12.jpg dolls11.jpg dolls10.jpg dolls9.jpg dolls9.jpg dolls7.jpg

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

My mother also has lots and lots of dolls. This reminds me a bit of her collections, although looks like you have even more than she does!

I know that it could be difficult. Is working with an auction house a possibility for you? If they do online auctions, perhaps some buyers could be found.

A doll club in Texas posted a link to this website that gives advice about selling personal doll collections:

I also suggest that your daughter help you, since she is asking you to sell. My mother often participates in selling at a local annual doll show, and I've helped her staff her booth/tables several times.

Thank you Figtree, Will check out some of these sites, My daughter unfortunately lives in Houston which is about 600 miles away, She is willing to help ,as she can, I sell some locally through Facebook, but just one or two here and there, and usually minimum value, I at one time had over 3000 dolls but have weaned it down to approx. 1500

Well, good luck! I live about 320 miles from my mother. I'm glad your daughter will help as she can. If you decide to try doll shows, you might also want to get somebody to help you load and unload a vehicle with the dolls in it. My mother uses big plastic tubs to transport most of the ones she sells. And of course, not all of them get sold at any one show, but we don't expect that. (And there are some she doesn't want to sell yet, too.)

say_it_slowly The worst prison is a closed heart

They might not be able to take them. My daughter works at a children's hospital house (not Ronald McDonald house but like that) and they can't take soft toys, stuffed animals etc for the children. They can't be kept free enough of germs.

Actually the thrifts around here won't take stuffed animals for the same reason. I'm not sure about soft dolls but I'm thinking maybe not those either.

Worth checking before making the trip.:(

Dolls are one thing I've never collected. Some of those Raggedy Annes and Andys are worth real money, if you have early ones. Just don't ask me which ones are which. The market for most dolls is deader than the dodo these days, unfortunately.

There is one Georgene in there somewhere,Happily I sold my other Georgenes on ebay way back , the rest are vintage a few newer, and homemade .Raggedy sells reasonably well here. so Ill not look at any price tags that may be still on them and sell the better ones, and SA will get the rest Thank you Evelyn B, I plan to call Texas Auction houses, and see if I can get some of my bisque to them,

If this were my doll collection, I would try to sell them in several "lots" of like-types. The large priority mail flat rate boxes can hold quite a few small dolls, so maybe fill one with dolls to see what fits, and then list that lot on Ebay or Etsy. I know you said you are limited mobility, but the postal employees will pick up your priority mail packages for you at your home.
