Featured Unusual Lounge Chair

I'm considering this for my next restoration project but am running into trouble finding the maker so I can see what the original seat material would have looked like. Any help would be great.

Wow! So I guess putting the original style seat back on may prove more of a challenge than expected...oh well. Awesome detective work and much appreciated.

One thing i noticed on the AR video, it was appraised at $3000. USD retail, i wonder if that is correct today for this piece?

 

This episode is from the current season of AR, so the "value" is from 2018.

 

So, 3k is about right then, retail?

 

If so, gives OP some room on restoration costs i would think, depending on what paid for unrestored.

 

The one verybrad shows appears to be copper. The OP's version is probably much newer and not copper.

 

it's likely copper that someone painter white...

 

I'm floored anyone even came up with this match! Seems like a needle in a haystack. Wow, Brad!

If older and painted, the OP should be able to find that copper color underneath. Good idea to check!

There were a lot of metal frames done in white though, esp in the 1960s. Homecrest, etc, almost all metal done in white. Pretty elaborate chair frames, too. I had a vintage Homecrest set in my back yard until recently. Haven't seen a frame in this pattern/shape, but you never know.

OP, if you do fix this up or repurpose, please post photos.

Think they are the same piece and not necessarily newer. Do not think the paint to be original. Imagine brass plated steel.

Think the OP could replicate something like this easier than the wicker. It may have had a wicker base under it but doesn't appear to be showing. Using some strap webbing should provide a suitable structure.

 

Yeah, i think that is correct, AR appraiser claimed " steel" construction
