Art Nouveau Bowl ?

I bought this brown coloured bowl and the stamp to the bottom has me puzzled think it might be Venice Austrian maybe struggling to get any results on mail search engines.

 

Nice bowl, but the style is not Art Nouveau

 

Hi I found the exact same mark on another blue glaze pot described as Art Nouveau turn of last century but haven’t been able to decipher the marks .Described as KAW Vienna Austria Art Nouveau. But hasn’t lead me anywhere searching has changed so much on the web and I have no International book of marks just the English ones.

 

Just because someone said another pot was Art Nouveau, doesn't make yours Art Nouveau. Listing "facts" should always be checked against other sources.

 

The same maker may have made many different styles. Art Nouveau would have stylized flowers or plants, a lovely woman with flowing hair or flowing organic shapes. Think about the famous posters by Alphonse Mucha, that is Art Nouveau

 

How large is the bowl? (Please give size when asking questions.) It's a very restrained pattern, but it could be of the period.

The mark itself is in Art Nouveau style.

 

Kunstabteilung-Wächtersbach, Christian Neureuther

On April 1, 1901 Christian Neureuther was allowed to found the Keramik Ateliers Wächtersbach with the consent of the factory management of the Wächtersbach stoneware factory. It was not until 1903, at the instigation of the director Dr. Honestly affiliated with Ferdinand Maximilian to Ysenburg and Büdingen in Wächtersbach within the Wächtersbacher stoneware factory an independent Kunstkeramische department under Christian Neureuther.

So it might be Keramik Ateliers Wächtersbach

Atypical as it may appear, this probably is Art Nouveau (Jugendstil)... and very collectable.

Hi all I found the same maker and potter on a pitcher jug on ebay albeit a lot better appealing than my chocolate brown and white bowl.Cant paste a link it wasnt secure but heres the title, Antique German Secessionist CHRISTIAN NEUREUTHER Waechtersbach Pottery.

 

Hi thats my bowl decided to give it a go on ebay though I dont see many and its not what it was now ebay has changed so much I put stuff on but mostly doesnt sell there.

A bit late to the party.

Wächtersbach went on for a long time. The number is a manufacturing code. If you find a list of codes, you'll find a date for yours. On this site it says that by the early 30s they had reached the 8000s, so my guess would be that yours is pre 1920s:

Bear in mind that Art Deco started earlier in Continental Europe than elsewhere. This could be early Deco, or transitional Nouveau-Deco.
I hope your listing isn't for Secessionist, that is the Austro-Hungarian term for Art Nouveau. Wächtersbach is in Hessen, Germany, where Art Nouveau is called Jugendstil.
