The necklace was so dirty I thought it was base metal but obviously had some age to it so for £1 I'd buy it!. Only when I got it outside into the natural light they have a blue shimmer to them that's really difficult to photograph. It's stamped 925 so a little gem but is going to take a bit of polishing!

Having just googled I think you are spot on ( not that there was any doubt:happy:). More crystal looking than opal.

Oops. There is a specific era for those slightly globular stones set in a band, but my mind is a total blank. I'm sure the others will come up with the answer.:)

I'm such a bargain hunter it's part of the fun!. I check out the local charity shops every few weeks to see what I can find. Sometimes it's amazing, like the huge 9k gold earrings in a box of junk I bought for 99p and sometimes it's nothing. Then I love the research, finding out about hallmarks, materials, era and history. Bizarrely, I rarely wear anything other than my grandmothers 30s foil necklaces and her wedding band. My girls age 6 and 9 have a canny eye for anything with a hallmark and are developing a love for the bling!

Those want to be moonstone, but also want to be white labradorite, a related stone. They're both feldspars. If these are rainbow-y in the sunlight, with those lines in the stone they're probably labradorite. If not, moonstone. It probably doesn't matter if it's going straight into the OP's hoard.

@Any Jewelry Are you thinking of "Pool of light" necklaces?

Pool of light pieces usually have round glass orbs, but the metal bands certainly remind me a lot of that style.

KSW, this is a fabulous necklace.

I was trying to think of that name too; this isn't that, but it's nice. I was also wondering how old it actually is. It's not dead modern with a spring ring, but ..dunno. It doesn't really "read" 30s.

On a quick google labradorite looks to be more blue than these stones- is there a definitive way to know?. As far as value, is one worth more than the other?. OH watched me polishing it last night and said ‘Are you going to sell it?’ I mumbled something about possibly but I love bits like this so much they do just go straight into my little hoard for my girls when they are older.
Obviously I don’t show him my hoard :hilarious:
