    Yup - hammered aluminum. Very popular in the 50's. My mother had quite a collection. It may have had a glass insert and it's missing the holder for the can of sterno.

    I'm surprised there isn't some mark though.

    Yeah - me too. Sometimes they were very faint though, so maybe it's worn off?

    Eek well thanks guys. I found it at thrift store for cheap so not much lost

    It may not be what you hoped for, but it is evocative of an era and no doubt there will be collectors out there. ;)
