Blue Beads

Sorting through my auction lot , what are your thoughts on these two lots of beads please? To begin with I was thinking fairly recent but on close inspection I’m wondering 60’s for the necklace? Hopefully you will all put me right!.
The bead necklace almost looks like two different materials in the little and big beads. Little are quite rough and big ones are losing colour in areas of wear. Strung on wire and quite stiff.
The blue dumbbell shapes beads unfortunately have come from a broken item and have no clasp and feel like glass or stone of some sort.Any ideas what?

That first one is gorgeous, KSW. I think 1980s. Made somewhere in Asia, inspired by ethnic jewellery.

The second one looks like glass made to look like blue (dyed) agate.

I didn’t look properly at them to begin with and thought just modern tat but then when I looked more carefully I thought they were really rather striking. Is it the hardware that says 80s?. What are they likely to be made of?.

 

The general style. These were very popular at the time, also in the 90s.

Difficult to say without having them in hand. What do the beadholes look like?

 

I’ll get a photo later as I’m not at home now. They are quite heavy, almost porcelain like but not as quality as you can see from the colour wear

 

The top strand MAY be Lapis or Sodalite. Lapis might have some gold flecks in it. The smaller round beads (blue and white) look like sodalite , the larger round ones (almost all blue) look more like lapis, but the vase shaped ones with the whiteish wear ring around them make me think it is neither, and some kind of dyed material. Maybe @Hollyblue can help.

 

I think they are made to resemble lapis lazuli or sodalite. Those bands around the beads suggest something else, maybe ceramic. The findings are base metal. A photo of the beadholes should tell us more.

 

I think the first set would like to be lapiz, but aren't.

Glass beads look like good old Bohemian/Czech ones.

I’ll borrow my OHs decent camera and try to get some better photos when I get home- I’m working from a phone and it’s the best it can do!.

 

I'm fairly sure the top necklace is ceramic; I've seen those beads before or something similar. I could be wrong of course. The bar bells are probably a nice grade of Czech glass, unknown vintage.

That was my first impression. They clink against your teeth and are cold to the touch. I've just noticed in some places the wire has worn into the beads which presumably wouldn't happen with stone?

 

I still say ceramic as well.
