    Hi, Folks-
Wasn't sure where to post this question. I realize this is no antique but hope that including it here is appropriate. Made in Japan Bobblehead is about 9-1/2" tall with no team identification. The uniform and helmet are black & gold. I'm from the Pittsburgh area and wondered if there were a Steelers association. Can't seem to find this example anywhere in my research. Does anybody know? Thanks in advance. DSCN7231.JPG DSCN7232.JPG DSCN7233.JPG DSCN7234.JPG

    Hi Lew.

I can't help you with a team association, but the colors are good for the New Orleans Saints.

However this style is very similar to one I sold in 2013 for $1663.00. Mine was a Washington Redskins & was just a bobblehead. It was stamped on the bottom 19?8 (I never could make out the third number) & was 6 3/4" tall.

I wish there was a way to find the user ID of the guy who bought mine. He did not collect for a specific team, but collected all the different figures out there.

My SWAG is yours is slightly later than mine, maybe late 60's to early 70's. I also think if you put it up at auction it might surprise you at the end. I will tell you mine shocked the ever living hell out of me. I started it at $24.99 & expected it to go for a few hundred. :jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop:

A couple teams have/had gold and black color schemes back in the day. Saints and Steelers. I think New Orleans had a black-white-black stripe configuration. This looks like early 1960s Pittsburgh colors to me.

Bobby Layne, circa 1960. Ear covers are different and there are stripes on the sleeves, so I don't know...

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

with no logo.... the team affiliation is moot.
also, since it's a bank..... made for young boys to save their pennies....it's likely low on the collectable scale...........unless u had one when you were a kid......and it bust & Mom tossed it.... IMHO

Thanks for your thoughts everybody! I guess I'll have to put it out there and see what the collectors have to say. Have a good night.

I think it is a 1960/70s paper mache (sp) bobble head bank. Never meant to be affiliated with a team.
Reminds me of the paper mache Christmas angels from the same time period.

It was one of those where you just sit there & stare at the screen for a few moments & when you send it off you hold your breath until it arrives. :D:D:D

We asked the sports bobblehead experts over at Net54 who agree it's generic -- could be sort-of Steelers, sort-of Saints, sort-of certain college teams -- but also think you might get "$40.-$50. for it on a good day."
We'll report back if more of the guys there have additional opinions about it...
