Think there's a bit of conclusion-jumping here. I see cotton picking but not slavery or plantation (in the American sense.) More likely India.

I did not see any hi-rise building on it. Bad images I apologize. It seem like an island with those trees and bright colored clothing. Probably not slavery related to the states.
Lots of reflection off the window plus rain

I like the painting, but the word slavery spoiled it for me. I see no evidence of slavery. Of course I don't know the conditions these people have to work under, or if they are paid.
The Western style dresses and knotted headscarves don't look Indian to me.
    I do.

Hope it still there a better image could clear the building in the background point. I am now not sure. Any guesses on the signature? Looks like cotton in the painting, but I could be wrong

Those larger trees look all wrong for the USA. If anything, they're Caribbean.

    Wrong for the non-tropical states.

Of course, we (Floridians) are not so big with the cotton production. :p

This is the kind of painting you look at when you are desperately, trying to find a justification to purchase.

    Ed Jean?
    And below that Cap Haïtien?
Cap Haïtien is a town in Haiti, and I just checked, they grow cotton in Haiti. So it is probably a Haitian painting by someone named Ed Jean.
Those headscarves tied at the back are considered part of the Haitian women's traditional costume.
