Good morning esteemed wizards of the decorative arts! I have yet another unknown maker's item. At least this one is marked. These are a pair of brass candlesticks in what I would call loosely Gothic Revival style, for lack of a better description. They are 12.25" H x 11" w x 5" diameter at the base. The marks on the under base are convex, reverse stamped, as in pressed repousse? In other words they stick out! I would describe the mark as anchor and polaris, but no luck Googling. I am in the US and purchased them here, many years ago, probably at an antiques mall, but I can't remember. Thanks for any leads! candle1.jpg candle3.jpg candle2.jpg

I wonder if the center held another level, or something else?

Possibly.. hadn't thought of that. No threads, so it would have slipped in. The center post takes a different size candle than the two side arms, which looks odd if you fully load it. Plus the side arms have no bottom, so the candles can fall through .. and drip! candle4.jpg

Thank you aaroncab! That's the same maker, for sure, as yet still unknown. Looks like mine has been fiddled with, that explains the design flaws. Compass rose is a much better term, but still no luck on Google.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Looking at that link reminded me of our great loss with the passing of ladybranch. She knew so much!

Also when I went there I found that somebody gave me a "helpful" recently for a message I posted in 2014, right about the same time as the other thread linked above! Completely different thread, though, about Russian samovars.
