Experiments. Our company is looking to provide modern trench art, clearly identified as “new made.” C8E3AFF5-C5E2-4B75-9471-08A4A561FCCC.jpeg

I haven't a clue on what these actually are size wise. Are you thinking flower vase?

Look at the magic marker notes, which is about the body diameter of the straight part. The rim at very bottom is a little wider. #1. 105mm = about 4 1/8 in. Knowing the diameter lets you guess the height pretty closely. These would be the base sections of a paperweight, mantle sentry, whatever that has a top part added to give it a “complete” and still military appearance. The top might be a conical projectile fuze, projectile windshield, or something else we have in the thousands. We wouldn’t even try to market such a thing without an audience reaction test. If 80% of the people we show it to say “ooh that’s pretty cool” then we’d work on a price point and market it online. Functionally, these will equate to a pet rock. Should have some complete with tops in a few days.

I’m starting to see some wildlife emerging. Those with a ribbed look might make good bumble bees. Bzzzzz.

Here’s some NTA we didn’t do, but we sold the “canvas” to a man in CA who paints on them. The grey canvas is a 60 mm white phosphorous mortar shell, ca. 1973, supplied I think exclusively by Springfield Arsenal LLC. In the pic, it is inverted from the way it is usually pictured.

Maybe you can give them a job......egg cup, glass globe stand, golf ball or baseball stand...something like that.

Or maybe a story, even pet rocks had a gimmick, they weren't just rocks. (well yes they were just rocks but they made them fun with clever marketing) :)

Of course there is the sword into plowshares thing.

I don't see any art nouveau at all.
what I see is crap metal. sometimes apprentices are allowed to play around with it in wintertime. millions of pistons as ashtrays etc..

I don't want to appear close minded, but I thought trench art was made from authentic artifacts from wars. I don't understand this "modern" trench art at all.

Items shown in post #10 are not trench art, but could be considered “industrial art.”

Clever marketing? Don’t want to blow my horn too loud, but I think I’m the only militaria dealer with “WmD*” on his biz card

Latest experiments. For #1-3 we used c. Case D66CF6DB-9332-47D9-96C8-75C0B1700136.jpeg #7 as a die and it helped get things moving straight. Only one that didn’t look too good was #5, a 75mm case of thin, soft brass. #3 is Army 90mm, #6 is Army 20mm; I mention these because the magic marker is illegible. 25 ton Hydraulic press was maxed out pressure-wise before it completed mashing #1-3. It seems that aluminum likes to do the Michelin Man, but brass and steel prefer to fold. ???
