    Hi

My mother has a French bowl adorned with bronze figures. The bowl is quite ornate but is in several pieces. I can see the name - it looks like Mausen Paris on it. Pics are attached.

We have no idea about the origins of this piece, or whether it may be worth restoring.

I wonder if anyone might be able to give me some insight please?

    Many thanks

    Neil

    Is it a tureen?

I guess it could be, I've never really examined it. I just took a couple of quick pics to see if I could find anything out about the maker on the Internet, but so far my searches have turned up nothing. That's when I wondered if anyone on here might be able to shed some light.

It seems very rare to combine heavy bronze with a rather fragile, hollow stand this way...

The ceramic part reminds me of Palissy (extremely naturalistic), but it is not.

It looks like the piece on top broke off from the side, under that cherub... Maybe the bronze figures are arranged around the foot of a bowl or tureen?

Well - maybe the first stage of the mystery. The next stage is to work out whether the piece is complete and whether it is worth having it restored.

I dunno - maybe that is just hair or seaweed :)

    (I'm not normally that imaginative)
