Any help with dating this courtship figurine and identification of the maker's mark (last pic) would be appreciated! They both lost some fingers, but so?.....

I'm not a potty, but doing some advance work for those who are, I have to think this triangular arrangement of dots appearing once on the back of each figure is also a maker's mark:

Interesting thought, thanks! But those 3 dots are scattered over both figures' clothing, both front and back, so I believe they are just decorative.

I don't think it's an acorn. More like a crown over a shield. Can't make out what's on the shield.

I think you are right! I will try to take and post a better pic than this, which was seriously resized.

I may just be overanalyzing, but they are so sparsely placed, not at all like sprigged cloth, if that is what is meant. And why would the bodice of her dress be made of the same material as her suitor's coat? Still feel they mean something to the initiated. :)

A ramping bird? The M, if that's what it is, is interesting, as though made of crossed sticks.

You could be right! They probably mean something to those in the know.

    I see the crown now.
Also see an "S" inside the shield.

I think it's lovely. The artist did a wonderful job of capturing a mood.
