Cherry Ames! Blast from the past -- I read my mother's copies. AJ Cronin -- Nevil Shute and Alistair McLean were other authors I remember reading way back when.

Looks right. Cats play with some toys once, and then never again. Some are roundly ignored. Then they attack pieces of wire and milk pull-tabs.

    What got me started?
Dad always took me to the flea market with him when I was a kid. I learned to haggle!
I bought an 18k and ivory Buddha charm for 25 cents. It was the best deal ever! I was about 10 years old.

Seems like parents have been a major influence for a lot of you

I've got a wonderful mum who is as close to me as anyone could possibly be

Dad on the other hand was a Romani gypsy tramp who I never knew

Just realised the word dad seems so alien to me, not something I've ever said before in context

In the Netherlands we call that combination one of the seven beauties.;)

My first purchase was a set of bowls for $5 at an auction. I went with my grandpa Crowley...I was 7. The bowls were full set of Roseville Ideal bowls and I still have them! That lead to 50+ years of buying Roseville, pottery, Melmac, cars, motorcycles, etc. (I don't have much time to post due to caregiving duties, but I wanted to share the influence of early childhood experiences.
