I found this at the local thrift store today. It's signed Kubik 1973 (actually 73) - anyone heard of him/her? I thought I recognized the name but the art I saw associated with the name did not look like this.
THEN(!) when I looked on the back I saw a pencil written message that says: Original by Julian(?), Jilian(?) Ritter! So this is a copy?
Is it any good/any thoughts on it?
They had it priced at $150 & when I asked the manager if he'd take $100 he agreed so I bought it. But if I'd seen that written on the back I'm not sure I would have - at least not until I had a chance to post here & see what you think.
    Well it's mine now!
    I appreciate any info.

You could be right. Julian Ritter was a painter of nudes (and clowns). I saw one also with a large hat, though clothed.[IMG]

    Anyone know anything about Kubik?
I don't know why but I thought that it was also the name of the Clockwork Orange author - but I just googled it & saw that was Burgess

Stanley Kubrick directed the film I believe. Think your artist Kubik was an amateur artist who loved Ritters original painting and had a go at copying it.

Making copies is part of the learning process.

I misread it it as Rubik, so I was expecting a more cubist style.
