Definitely a good jigsaw puzzle image. Lousy auction image, especially at that price level, but good jigsaw image. I'd throw a few hundred bucks at that pile, but no more given how much I can "see". And they want $5000????

They've placed an estimate of a hammer price of $5,000 - 8,000 (& there's a hefty buyer's premium on top of that), but I have a suspicion that this is very outside their usual sort of thing & that they have no one on board with any idea how to value them. They may have simply accepted what the consignor told them. And this is it exactly:

I agree, photo would make a great jigsaw puzzle. :)

@Bronwen, In saving and prepping that "conglomerate" image of cameos and intaglios for my jigsaw puzzle, you would not believe HOW MANY of them were replicated and added to the whole image to make it appear larger!!!!!! YIKES!!!!! THAT'S what I was doing to fill out the edges & corners, and noticed that's what had already been done!!!!:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I'm amazed that they did that. Thanks for pointing it out!

I wish I could say I was surprised.

Was she made for the German market? Pre-WWI Germans seem to have been fascinated with African faces.
