Silverplated thingamajig help please??

Discussion in 'Silver' started by strawberryfieldsvintage, May 25, 2015.

  1. Hello all, I'm new to this wonderful website and I'm so glad I found it. I wonder if anyone can help me identify this rather odd object. My guess work extends as far as: silverplate (although it has no markings at all) I would say it must be a salt shaker as the ball at the top unscrews and has pierced holes in the top. That's pretty much all I can figure. Can't find any reference to anything like it anywhere! Any help at all would be hugely appreciated, thank you.

For scented stuffs, such as pot pourri. And with those motifs, I think it's either Indian or in the manner thereof. Or it's Discworld.

  3. Ah, good point, scented stuff! Makes sense although I forgot to mention it's only about 7cm tall. I thought prob Indian around that part of the globe. Any age would you think? Or a modern tourist trinket? I like the discworld idea although I'm pretty sure that's a frog not a turtle n who knows where the monkey comes into play lol. Thank you for taking the time to help. Appreciated.x
