I am totally baffled on this, looks like an elk head, but the pin looks like a vase? c clasp I believe can't find any markings magnet doesn't stick to it.

I believe it is a vase, meant to hold a flower to a lapel. Maybe heather for the theme, with the stone meant to be a cairngorm.

Might be a kilt pin. Maybe you were supposed to put a bit of heather in the posy holder bit. Scottish though.

Unusual way to use a cone bead and a bit small for a flower.

Komo is right, it's missing its feathers. Not a kilt pin, but a wee Scottish souvenir for ones lapel.

Dad used to wear one on his wool hat......but it was a Tyrol type....so he had lots of pins on it too...

Your dad's would have had boar hair and an edelweiss. My Pa had one, too.

I've seen those. The deer with the glass cairngorm is supposed to hold a grouse feather.

I agree, Scottish lapel feather pin rather than a kilt pin, which would be longer.
That would probably be chamois rather than boar. Those Alpine ones had chamois fur.

The one my dad had, the furry bit was very coarse - it was Bavarian, so we thought boar.

In Bavaria it could even be a raccoon.;) They had a raccoon problem in parts of Germany in the 70s, maybe still do. Some (....) though it fun to import them and let them loose.:banghead:
The German solution was to make coats etc out of them. I got a very cheap raccoon fur-trimmed suede coat out of their problem.

Badger, it might well have been.

Ah yes, escapees. Our canals are full of crayfish. The Environment Agency encourage fishing the beasts and they eat well.
