Bought a box of Military pins and ribbons. These pins go on a hat or uniform. These don't have the piece that hold them in place. looking to id most of these.

Mostly US Navy-related. But those "head-on" warships and dolphins may be another country.

6th one down has something to do with the Seabees (Navy construction types?) @Bev aka thelmasstuff I think Bev's hubby was with them when he served.

I'm wondering whether the second one might be the Naval Air Corps? Or maybe the AC stands for Aviation Cadet (which was my Dad's official designation in 1946 when he was in flight school.) I don't recall having a close enough picture of him in uniform that I can confirm the design on his.

The one with the submarine, missile and "atomic" symbol seems fairly obvious to me, but not a clue whether this was "official" or not.

I might add that the shiny ones go on dress uniforms. The non-shiny ones are used on working unis so that they don't glint in sunlight. ;)

Shiny or pewter, it is the wearers choice on dress.

As I said before, NOT the wearer's choice. During deployment, they wear the dark pin so it doesn't reflect light and give away location. The shiny ones are for dress uniforms period. 31 years a Navy wife, I am certain of this.

By the way, here are the dolphins at the gate to Sub Base Groton. :). 591fdf4e0221330bdbdc2a69520d501c.jpg

My husband says if you're wearing a working uniform (BDUs) you don't wear shiny. It has to be black. Although, as a Vietnam era Seabee, he says it may have changed. All I know is I only ever saw the shiny pins when he was in dress uniform, not cammys and it wasn't discretionary.

Horse walks into a bar, sits on a stool. Bartender asks “Why the long face?” (Audience laughter). Which has nothing to do with the discussion; insomnia brought me here.
