    Haiti became independent in 1804, so if Haitian it would have had to be made before then, which is possible because the abolitionist movement already existed. But the possibility is much greater that it was made in France. Colonials had no interest in liberating 'free' workforce.:(

    The Wedgwood came out in 1787, so that puts a terminus ante quem under it.

    It does. And the central image of the man in chains used by the abolitionists already existed decades before Wedgwood used it. So the intaglio could even pre-date the Wedgwood seal.
    But a no-no in the colonies, I think.
